I'm a fan of Tracy Kidder's work. I've read most of his books, and I was happy to

be near the top of the waiting list at the library for this
Strength in What Remains, his newest book. It's a powerful story - a refugee from Burundi makes his way to NY on $200 and somehow manages to not only attend Columbia, but also medical school. He was already a medical student in Burdundi before the Civil War there.
