Since we have lived in Claremont, the squirrel population has increased dramatically. Apparently, the species we are seeing more of are the invasive eastern gray squirrels which are displacing the native squirrels. My vegan daughter decided that if someone caught one or two, she wouldn't mind eating one since that would not negatively affect the ecosystem. However, after she learned that these squirrels carry plague and other disease, perhaps she'll take a pass.

I'm not sure. I just noticed that we have more squirrels than we used to and less crows. I never paid much attention to what species of squirrel were here.
