I heard an interview with E. L. Doctorow on NPR at the beginning of the month about his new book, Homer and Langley. It is a fictionalized version of two eccentric brothers who lived in NY City from the late 1800s until the 1940s. You can read about them here. These brothers barricaded themselves in their home with so much stuff, that when they died, the whole place had to be excavated to actually find them. I found the story fascinating.
