On my way home from Trader Joe's this morning, I noticed that the Claremont United Methodist Church has put up their nativity scene. At first I thought that the man in the hoodie was someone looking very closely at the scene until I realized he was part of the scene. Then I thought that the fence around the manger was to thwart vandals (given what happened last year), but then, of course, I figured out that the fence is representative of the borders keeping out the undocumented. Now that I look at the photos, I see that there is a sign with some kind of explanation that I did not bother to read. I will have to go back to check it out.
